| SWAT Doctors are health care providers who have taken the initiative, time and training to practice Tactical Emergency Medicine. These clinicians serve as active members on Tactical units around the country, delivering emergency medical care in areas traditional EMS, Paramedics and Physicians would never be able to deliver care. These specialists are trained in evidence preservation, ballistics, hostage negotiation, explosives, firearms, combat, tactics, Nuclear, Chemical and Biologic hazards and battlefield medicine.
These people operate as medics on the SWAT Teams they serve, and deliver advanced medical care to patients that cannot survive a delay in medical care. After stablization, the patients can safely be transported to the Emergency Department. These individuals ensure safety of the general public, safety of the Tactical Officer, and they ensure an injured suspect will survive to see his or her day in court.
